Original illustrations

The course is designed for students who have already been introduced to illustration and have a basic knowledge of pre-press preparation. Advanced knowledge of Adobe software is assumed. Students will learn about current trends in illustration through the work of contemporary international artists. Their work will be presented through practical examples of publications and zines produced mainly by Risograph or digital printing technologies. An important aspect is the development of students' individual projects within series or cycles. The emphasis is on long-term projects. During the semester, students will have the opportunity to consult the form of their projects in the Book Workshop of the FaVU BUT, where they will also be able to print and bind them at the end.The main goal of the course is to support the creative activity of students in the creation of low-cost original prints and publications, as well as assisting in their artistic development.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

The following conditions are set for the award of credit: credit is awarded on the basis of active participation in lectures and exercises and the submission of a practical output. 
Teaching takes place in the Bookbinding Workshop of the FaVU BUT in the form of practical exercises and theoretical lectures. Attendance is compulsory (tolerated absence 20%). 

Aims

The aim of the course is to introduce students to the issue of illustration in the context of original publications, zines, comics or series of prints. Emphasis is placed on working with longer-running cycles or series.
Students will be encouraged to work with their own original art style throughout the course. The course will result in a printed artist book, zine, or poster series. 
Studenti se seznámí se současnými trendy české a světové ilustrace. Studenti získají dovednosti v tiskových a adjustačních technologií. Výsledkem předmětu bude tištěná autorská publikace, zine nebo série plakátů.
