Expanded Painting 2

The course is designed as a consulting and discussion platform that offers students individual solutions to their technological and material processes and experiments. It builds on the subject of Hi Tech Painting 1, providing a general overview of contemporary painting technologies and procedures. Compared to this, Hi Tech Painting 2 is more focused on developing individual thinking and specific focus and individual student projects. The course also includes responses to assignments aimed at disrupting stereotypes and best practices, or just changing media or technology.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

The following conditions are set for granting the credit: active participation in lessons, which can be compensated by submitting a task elaborated on the basis of an alternative assignment after agreement with the teacher; Submitting completed tasks.
Compulsory attendance, which can be compensated by agreement with the teacher by submitting a task prepared on the basis of an alternative assignment.

Aims

The aim of the course is to broaden the knowledge of materials and technologies that are currently entering contemporary art practice; furthermore, the ability to think of colors or any other painting material as one of the creative components of artistic practice. Students will learn to find a way to adequate (situational and contextually anchored) means of expression, will develop individual, and therefore functional and communicative visual expression with emphasis on original materiality and technology.
Ability to choose and implement individual solutions of technological and material procedures and experiments.
