The course is designed as a series of lectures and follow-up practical exercises focusing on the technique of printing from height. In this course, particular attention is paid to Japanese woodcut technique, cut technique, calligraphy and printing from collage, blind printing. Emphasis is placed on an individualized selection of hands-on activities. Within each class, students are introduced to printmaking workshop work and workflows. The course will include the opportunity to work in the printmaking workshop during open hours. A portion of the class will be devoted to current trends and artists working with print from the top.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course
The following conditions are set for the award of credit:
- Attendance in class (2 permitted unexcused absences) or submission of an assignment based on the assignment in consultation with the lecturers.
- submission of completed assignments.
Classes are taught in the graphic design workshop of the FaVU BUT during the hours specified in the schedule. Minimum attendance is 85%. Make-up for missed lessons is done by agreement with the teacher in the form of individual consultations.
Aims
Cílem kurzu Grafické techniky – tisk z výšky je nabídnout studujícím pokročilou orientaci v možnostech tisku z výšky na základě praktických cvičení zaměřených na již složitější a technicky náročnější grafické techniky. Předmět bude posilovat schopnost studujících uvažovat o tisku z výšky v kontextu současného umění. Důraz bude kladen na správnost technologických postupů navazujících na tradiční grafické techniky.
Upon completion of the course, students will be familiar with the procedures and possibilities of graphic techniques of printing from height. They will be aware of the place of print from height in the context of contemporary art theory and practice.
