The course is designed as a series of lectures and follow-up practical exercises, focusing on etching, a print-from-depth technique. In this course, attention is paid in particular to the techniques of aquatint, reserving, photo etching, and forogravure. Printing of multiple color matrices, matrix printing. Emphasis is placed on individual selection of practical activities. Within the individual lessons, students are introduced to the work in the etching workshop and working procedures. The course will include the opportunity to work in the printmaking shop during open hours. Part of the lecture will be devoted to current trends and artists who work with etching.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course
The following conditions are set for the award of credit:
- Attendance in class (2 permitted unexcused absences) or submission of an assignment based on the assignment in consultation with the lecturers.
- submission of completed assignments.
Classes are taught in the graphic design workshop at the FaVU BUT during the hours specified in the schedule. Minimum attendance is 85%. Make-up for missed lessons is done by agreement with the teacher in the form of individual consultations.
Aims
The aim of the Advanced Printmaking – Etching course is to offer students an advanced orientation to the possibilities of etching through practical exercises focusing on more complex and technically demanding printmaking techniques. The course will enhance students' ability to think about etching in the context of contemporary art. Emphasis will be placed on the proper application of the technological procedures related to traditional printmaking techniques.
Upon completion of the course, students will be familiar with the procedures and possibilities of graphic etching techniques. They will be aware of the place of etching in the context of contemporary art theory and practice.
