Master Degree Seminar 1

The Master Degree Seminar 1 is the first of a pair of interrelated courses aimed at the theoretical part of the state final examination in the Master's programme. In this semester, students will first formulate the topic of their thesis and, following this, they will conduct research and begin to develop the materials for their own writing. The introductory part of the semester is aimed at recapitulating the general knowledge of writing methodology and dividing the students into seminar groups. The key activities in this semester are research and the subsequent elaboration of the literature and other sources in the form of notes, abstracts or outlines.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

Credit is awarded on the basis of active participation in seminars and the submission of the required amount of processed literature and resources in a form specified during the consultation.

 

Seminars are held in the classrooms of Art History and Theory Department of FFA in the hours determined by the schedule. Attendance is compulsory (1 unexcused absence is allowed). Consultations are held either in the classrooms and cabinets of AHTD or online via MS Teams.

 

Aims

The aim of the course is to provide students with support and methodological guidance in writing a master's theoretical thesis, the defence of which (debate over the text and its topic) constitutes the theoretical part of the state final examination.

 

After completing the course, students will have a clearly formulated topic for their master's theoretical thesis and will have sources in the form of abstracts, research, etc., which will serve as a basis for work on their own essay in the following semester.

  3. Joint work in seminar groups aimed at refining the topics of the Master's theoretical thesis.
