Course detail
FaVU-1RH-1Acad. year: 2024/2025
This course focuses on the basics of modeling in Rhinoceros with an emphasis on its use in art and design applications. Students will learn basic tools and techniques such as creating and editing basic geometric shapes, tools for modeling 3D objects from curves and surfaces. Selecting, editing and transforming objects. Boolean operations, cuts and intersections of objects. Theory of the principles of basic digital fabrication methods and what to consider in design for manufacturability or cost minimization. Creation of 2D documentation and the possibility of exporting data for further work with them in other programs or production. This will be followed by practice using several sample objects for each technology, including the implementation of several of them.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course
The following conditions are set for the award of credit:
Teaching takes place in the classrooms of the FFA BUT in the hours determined by the schedule. Attendance is compulsory (2 unexcused absences allowed). Higher number of absences can be compensated by submitting an alternative assignment after agreement with the teachers.
Aims
The aim of the course is to teach students the basics of 3D modelling using Rhinoceros software and to enable them to create objects in digital space for the purpose of art and design. Furthermore, the course aims to introduce learners to the principles for creating spatial models suitable for subsequent realization using 3D printing, CNC or robotic machining. It should also introduce the learner to the procedures for creating simple technical drawings and presenting models.
After completion of the course, student will:
