The content of subject are practical tasks of Bioengineering I. solving biorector operations (mixing, aeration, etc.) and cultivation possibilities (batch, fed-batch and continuous system).

Participation in the seminar, preparation and submission of written reports on all tasks in the laboratory diary, presentation, final test.

Written test of knowledge from laboratory tasks.

Aims

The aim is to introduce for students practical bioengineering techniques in laboratory conditions and a better understanding of previously acquired theoretical knowledge of bioengineering.
Gaining practical knowledge in bioengineering.

Syllabus

1. Basic logic of biotechnological processes, influence of selected cultivation parameters on yield coefficients
2. Use of ultrafiltration for concentration and partial purification of proteins
3. Determination of specific growth rate depending on the concentration of carbon source
4. Enzymatic hydrolysis of wheat bran
5. Bioreactors and determination of their basic characteristics
6. Anaerobic batch cultivation in laboratory bioreactor, basic cultivation and yield parameters
