Construction materials and segments

New materials applicable for civil engineering constructions and for reconstruction works.
Composite materials theory and their divisions. Usage of particles composites in constructional materials: concretes, polymer-cement mortars and polymer impregnated concretes, polymer-concretes, fibre-composites, laminates.
Modern types of reinforcement, dispersed fibre, polymer and steel reinforcement in concrete.
Dry rendering mixtures and their applications. Bitumens in building practice. Reinforcement protection against corrosion. Gravel materials, mastics, glues and paint coats.

Entry knowledge

The skill of the combined use of the knowledge of sciences (physics, chemistry, mathematics) on a secondary school level, the ability to use knowledge of the subjects of Building materials and Building mechanics, the knowledge of the statistics – methodology of the selection and optimization.
In case of the subject given in English, the intermediate level of written and spoken English is required.

Aims

The grasp of new materials, used in the present building practice and for the reconstruction of buildings and constructions, the familiarization of the students with some progressive technologies of the reconstruction of the worn-out parts or whole constructions, the skill of the right selection, optimization and use of construction materials, potentially of reconstruction techniques.
