Computer Aided Building Physics Application

FAST-AH053Acad. year: 2024/2025

Software for Building Physics is widely used in the design and assessment of structures to comply with the mandatory requirements of applicable legislation. In particular, the design of structures in terms of thermal and energy characteristics, the assessment of thermal comfort of environment in buildings, optimization of the selection of structures, including doors and windows in terms of acoustics and day-lighting. Knowledge of and ability to use relevant programs in the field of building physics allows optimal material selection and design of structures.

Entry knowledge

For effective teaching are expected good theoretical knowledge in the field of building thermal physics, acoustics and day-lighting of buildings. There are expected basic knowledge of terminology and values used in building physics. There is necessary for study knowledge of material properties and design of structural details.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

Extent and forms are specified by guarantor’s regulation updated for every academic year.

Aims

The aim of the subject is design of building structures to avoid risk of thermal and technical defects and deficiencies and also to fulfil requirements of the ordinance no. 268/2009 St and of the standard ČSN 73 0540-2:2002. Design of parting constructions respecting air-bone and impact sound requirements. Design of openings to provide required visual comfort, daylighting and insolation of buildings.
Student will be able to use software for verificaton of building
structures and objects from the viewpoint of thermal technology.
Student will be able to verify airborne and impact sound insulaton
of envelopes.
