Professional German II (for architects)

The subject is designed to help students to deal with professional German texts at the B1-B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference. Students should master key phrases of academic German as well as elementary professional terminology (related to the field of architecture) so that they are able to effectively find out information in professional resources. Emphasis will also be put on the development of listening and active communication skills (obligatory PowerPoint presentations on the given technical topic and project defences in German).
Topics: presentation skills, residential buildings, public buildings, reconstruction and upgrading of buildings, preservation of monuments, urbanism, landscaping, interior, exhibitions and tradefairs

Aims

The aim of this course is to expand students’ vocabulary in the area of civil engineering and improve fluency in German.


The student will be able to understand professional texts from the field of civil engineering related to the given topis, will improve his/her communicative abilities and enrich his/her vocabulary.
