The subject provides an overview of the principles and approaches to Business Intelligence (BI) solutions and the possibilities of their use in business management. It thus creates prerequisites for performing the function of analysts and consultants of applications designed to support decision-making in the company. The MS SQL Server and MS Power BI environments are used for the practical part of the course.

The requirements for the student are set at the basic level of knowledge of database systems, data warehouses and programming techniques.
Rules for evaluation and completion of the course
The evaluation of the subject consists of two main parts - the preparation of the semester project focused on the field of Business Intelligence, and its subsequent defence and a written exam with an alternative option of an oral examination.
Completing the semester project in the prescribed form (according to the specification in e-learning) is also a condition for obtaining credit.
The evaluation corresponds to the point classification according to ECTS, while the maximum number of points - 100 - is divided between the sub-parts as follows:
A pass rate of at least 50% is required for both parts.In case of an insufficient number of points or the need for a better assessment, an oral examination is possible.
Participation is mandatory in pre-defined terms (specified within the e-learning) related to the review of the processing of the semester project and the completion of partial tasks. Replacement is possible only after agreement with the teacher.
Completion of the course for students with an individual study plan:Terms of credit: Elaboration of the project according to the assignment and its submission with the prescribed documentation according to the instructions in e-learning.Exam conditions: Project defence and oral examination.
Aims
The goal of the subject is to familiarize students with the basic principles of Business Intelligence (BI), the current development of BI, the position in the IS/ICT architecture, the implementation of BI tasks and the acquisition of practical skills with the analytical parts of BI.Students will gain knowledge and be able to design and realistically implement a complete BI solution (multidimensional analysis, data pumps, multidimensional cubes and data mining up to the preparation of client applications).

Exercise
The seminars focus on the development of competencies for the practical implementation of BI solutions for a specific entity with a practical output in the form of a specific semester project.
