Global Business Environment

The course focuses on the characteristics and trends of the contemporary world economy with emphasis on the position of European Union within the world economy. The course includes defining the subjects of the world economy, the forms of relations and the division of the world economy into regional trade groupings.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

A student will receive a credit if he receives at least 21 points out of 40 points awarded for the completed seminar paper and its presentation and meets the condition of 75% participation in exercises. The exam is written, the maximum number of points from the exam is 60 points, while the student must obtain at least 31 points. For the purpose of the overall evaluation of the subject, the points from the exercises and from the exams are added up.


Mandatory attendance for excercises 75%.

Aims

a) To provide students a knowledge and understanding of the governance and business policies around the wolrd and in the European Union,
b) To describe students an international business context, in order to further and understanding of the European business environment
c) To show students the impact of EU policies on the European business environment and on corporate strategies developed in response to these policies.
a) Dispute how social, political, economic and institutional factors define the business environment of countries
b) Discus how cross-border flows of goods and capital affect firms’ and nations’ competitive positions
c) Evaluate how EU policies affecting business operations in Europe,
d) Explain the developments of economic integration in Europe
