Course detail

Sensors for Kinantropological Measurement

CESA-SSKVAcad. year: 2024/2025

The course deals with sensors of electrical and non-electrical quantities. Students learn the principles and design of sensors, the biosensors and sensors used in sports are emphasised. Students will acquire practical experience with measurement of physical quantities and will be able to independently design and implement systems for sensing physical quantities used in sports technology.

Aims

The aim of the course is to teach students to understand the problems of sensors and biosensors.
Students will gain knowledge about sensors of physical quantities used in the sport and will be able to design and build measurement device with sensors. Examination proves that student is able to:
- to name and describe the physical quantities used in sports,
- explain the principles of sensors used in sports,
- characterize the properties and of various types of sensors,
- evaluate the choice of a suitable converter for a given application,
- define artifacts and explain their origin,
- define the requirements of the sensor for the specified application,
- justify the choice of the sensor according to the parameters in the datasheet,
- design and build functional measuring chain with the specified sensor,
- detect and eliminate errors in the measurement chain,
- write a program for microprocessor with sensors,
- measure a physical quantity with measuring chain and display quantity value on PC,
- document design of measuring chain with sensor using visualization software.
Oral final exam are validated knowledge from selected chapters and the ability to explain issues.
