Physiology of Sport

CESA-SFTZAcad. year: 2024/2025

Learning outcomes of the course unit:
The subject is aimed at obtaining an overview of the ways of loading the organism of an individual in various types of physical activities. The theoretical topics are followed by practical examples of loading of the organism using appropriate instrumentation.

Entry knowledge

It is assumed that students have completed lectures and seminars of Physiology, Sport Medicine, Anatomy and Functional Anatomy.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

Evaluation of the course (see the SFTZ course in Moodle).
Seminars are compulsory, compensation is possible exceptionally after agreement with the teacher.

Aims

The aim of the course is to build on the basic overview of human physiology and to develop knowledge in the exercise physiology.

After completing this course, the student is able to consider the risks of clients in certain types of stress, recommend proper physical activities and know what medical examinations are used to eliminate health risks or to set the correct physical load. Students will be oriented in stress diagnostics and possibilities of its use.

Students will be able to:
- explain basic knowledge, concepts and link them with knowledge of physiology,
- describe the basic investigative methods in this area,
- choose the appropriate approach and method for the issue in question,
- to use practically acquired knowledge.
In laboratory exercises student:
- acquire stress diagnostics skills
- acquires skills in the field of examination of the locomotor apparatus,
- learn to practically propose proper physical load for a particular individual
- acquire skills for basic operation of instruments used to set up proper physical activity.
Based on the seminar paper and test results, the acquired knowledge and the ability to use this knowledge will be evaluated.
