Mode of study

Not applicable.

Entry knowledge

The student is supposed to have basic knowledge about electronic components (especially transistors, resistors and capacitors) and further knowledge of the principles of basic analog circuits (transistor amplifiers, operational amplifiers, feedback, etc.).

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

The course evaluation is as follows:

- a maximum of 30 points for protocols of computer exercises,

- a maximum of 10 points for mid-term test,

- a maximum of 60 points for the final exam, which consists of a written part (45 points) and oral exam (15 points).

Computer exercises are mandatory. Properly excused absence from exercises can be replaced by appointment with the teacher.

Aims

The aim of this course is make students familiar with manufacture procedure of the integrated circuits (IC) using CMOS technology, circuit design and layout of the basic IC blocs. The student is able to:

- describe the CMOS technology IC fabrication process,

- describe the basic steps in the IC design procedure,

- describe the basic structure of the chip and transistor respectively,

- design and verify the basic building blocks of analog IC (current mirror, reference, transistor amplifier, output stages),

- to design and verify basic parameters of the structure of the operational amplifier (OA) and operational transconductance amplifier (OTA).

Study aids

For the course there are prepared:

- electronic texts for the lectures and exercises,

- presentations for the lectures and exercises.
