Úvod do prostředků udržitelné mobility I

FEKT-BPC-UM1Acad. year: 2025/2026

Current world events only confirm that sustainability is not just a marketing concept, but a global necessity. Sustainability is also linked to electromobility, which not only offers the possibility of low- to zero-emission transport on a local and global scale, but also the use of a wider range of primary resources. Electromobility not only has effects in the transport sector, but also in other areas from energy to the extraction of critical raw materials. In general, sustainability also has different continuities, complexities and effects in other areas.

The course Introduction to Meas of Sustainable Mobility I will offer a variety of topics from different areas of mobility in the form of lectures, which include e.g. autonomous driving, charging, communication, electricity storage to hydrogen technologies. The course will introduce the different areas, outline the broader context or limitations or current technology directions. Through this lecture series, students should develop a framework overview of the areas and gain an understanding of the context that they can use further in subsequent courses or in the direction of their education.

The lectures of the course are compiled and renewed annually according to developments in the field and the range of available topics. The lectures of UM1 precede the lectures of UM2 and are coordinated so that they are not repetitive but complementary.

Entry knowledge

Knowledge on the secondary school level and a basic understanding of mathematics, physics and circuit theory from courses BPC-MA1, BPC-MA2, BPC-FY1, BPC-FY2, BPC-EL1 and BPC-EL2 are required.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

The course is awarded with credit, which is conditional on participation in at least 75% of the lectures. The detailed definition of supervised teaching and the way it is carried out is set out in the annually updated decree of the course guarantor.

Aims

The Introduction to the Means of Sustainable Mobility I course aims to introduce students to the areas of mobility and sustainability, and to broaden students' awareness of the scope, complexity and interconnectedness of the issues. A secondary aim is to introduce them to the University's research in these areas and thus provide them with a broader insight into their possible future direction.

The graduate is able to:

  • Describe the basic changes in the energy sector in the context of the transition to zero-emission energy
  • Describe and explain the load diagram and the term flexibility in the context of electricity consumption
  • Characterize the basic types of power plants
  • List the framework battery sizes of electric vehicles in the context of the range needs of ordinary users
  • List the main types of storage
  • Describe the concepts of V1G, V2X, V2L, V2H
  • Explain the use of hydrogen for the seasonal storage concept
  • List the basic levels of autonomous driving
  • Explain the difference in efficiency between thermal and electrical processes
  • Characterize the types of charging used
  • Describe the basic elements of electric vehicles and characterize their approximate parameters
  • Describe upcycling and recycling
  • Explain the possibilities of further use of batteries from electric vehicles
