Course detail

Organic-inorganic interfaces

CEITEC VUT-DS134Acad. year: 2024/2025

The aim of the course is to provide basic concepts on the formation and physical and chemical properties of inorganic-organic interfaces. The first part is dedicated to a review of essential knowledge from solid state physics, physical chemistry, and surface science. In the second part we put an emphasis on the molecular monolayers on solid surfaces of metals, semiconductors, and insulators. For these systems we will demonstrate their formation and fundamental properties: growth of molecular layers, self-assembly and on-surface synthesis, interaction of molecular layers with substrate, i.e., charge transfer, change of their electronic and magnetic properties, induced structural changes, and formation and functional properties self-assembled monolayers (SAM).
