Course detail

Bioceramics materials and biocomposites

CEITEC VUT-DS202AAcad. year: 2024/2025

The course is focused on biomaterials for replacements, repairs and coexistence with hard tissues. The course first introduces students to the structure, properties and physiology of bone tissue and the biocompatibility of biomaterials, especially with bone tissue. In the next part of the course, the types and properties of bulk and layered bioceramics for orthopedic and dental applications are presented. The course also deals with testing the mechanical properties, tribological properties and biocompatibility of biomaterials. The conclusion of the course is devoted to the preparation and processing of biomaterials and their applications.
