Modelling Techniques

The Modelling Techniques course reflects the introduction of computers into the architectural practice, which opened great possibilities in designing of forms in basic geometry and thus creating unprecedented spaces. The course reacts on the existence of new tools and develops creativity and invention of students. During the practicals, students will design nontraditional space forms. The specific work with basic geometrical form, its inner space and the relation to human scale will be presented on a physical model.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

The assessment is based on creative approach of students and their abilities to transform the ideational proposal into a physical form which corresponds with to quality produced at universities of fine arts. The assessment reflects the specific demanding character of the realization.
Students will attend the introductory lecture and the compulsory practicals. Two absences from the practicals during a semester are tolerated; more absences in case of serious reasons require consultation with the teacher.
Upon the agreement with the teacher, the absences in the classroom can be compensated via online participation.

Aims

Introducing students to various types of working methods and materials leads to acquirement of art/managerial experience and to simulate a first small realisation performed from the initial proposal to the physical model at professional level.
  • Student will gain the basic time and finantial estimation of realising an architectural model.
  • Student will acquaint themselves with new forms of architecture.
  • Student will acquaint themselves with various working methods and materials.
  • Student will acquire the skills to express his spatial architectural ideas with an appropriate aesthetic quality.
  • Student will become familiar with a variety of inspirational approaches to achieve the intended expression.
