Internship

Internship is a mandatory part of the professionally oriented bachelor's degree program "Architecture and Urban Design". The student deepens and integrates the knowledge of architectural and urban design acquired in the previous study in a real practice environment. Under the guidance of an authorized architect, he is familiarized with the functioning of an architectural office and with aspects of real practice, especially with the economic, procedural and legal relations of the professional environment. He will gain experience with the legal and ethical rules that result from the relationship between architect and customer, employer and employee.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

During practice, the student must cooperate at least two of the following phases of the architect's service (according to the definition of Performance Standards and ČKA documentation):

  • construction design (or competition),
  • project for planning permission,
  • project for building construction.

Students will provide a confirmation signed by a certified architect (or by an equivalent person from European Economic Area and Switzerland) who supervised his/her work, a work experience log book, and anonymised samples of performed work. Any exceptions to the above must be approved by the subject guarantor before starting the internship. The student will also fill a summary in the given structure.

The internship length determines at least 760 work hours (corresponding to 19 weeks of standard 40-hour work week) and at least 12 weeks of performed work.

  • The student will be introduced to the real functioning of architectural practice.
  • The student will be introduced to the individual phases of the architect's service.
  • The student will be able to work in a professional team.
  • The student will be able to communicate interdisciplinary with specialists.
  • The student will be able to communicate with the construction contractor.
  • The student will be able to communicate with the client.
