Presentation Tools

The goal of the course is to gain overview of graphic tools and basic principles of graphic design (typography, layout, structure). Students will be able to produce their own graphic outputs for digital environment and print, to process the content and visual materials. They will acquire the methods for working in the Adobe graphic editors (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and their interconnections. They will learn to understand the interconnections between graphic design and architecture. The course will focus on understanding of processed topic, assignment, and the following selection of adequate means of expression and style.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

The regularly submited assignments are assessed.
Participation in at least six practicals is required; absences cannot be compensated, they could be only excused for serious reasons.
Upon the agreement with the teacher, the absences in the classroom can be compensated via online participation.

Aims

The goal of the course is to gain overview of graphic tools and basic principles of graphic design. Students will be able to produce their own graphic outputs for digital environment and print, to structure a message, to process content and visual materials. They will learn to understand the interconnections between graphic design and architecture. The course will focus on understanding of processed topic, assignment, and the following selection of adequate means of expression and style.
Students will acquire:
  • overview of computer graphics in practice
  • basic skills of graphic design (typography, layout, structure)
  • methods of work in Adobe graphic editors (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and their interconnections
  • basics to prepare content and materials, to work with programmes and software, to production
  • information on graphic formats used in the practice
  • skills to present their own architectural works
