Art Techniques – Sculpturing

The course of sculpturing introduces sculpting clay as a material enabling students to express their ideas fast, which is suitable to create first ideas and models of buildings. The course of sculpturing is divided into two thematic parts. The first part of assignments is focused on technical mastering of working with clay (still life, organic shapes, augmented detail etc.) and leads students to understand the possibilities and restrictions of the material. In the second part of semester, students are assigned topics relevant to their professional instruction, and which require creative mastering of the assignment (abstract composition).

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course
Students will attend the introductory lecture and it is compulsory to attend the practical classes. Two absences from practicals are tolerated; more absences in case of serious health problems must be discussed with the pedagogue. The lesson can be compensated in a parallel study group.
In the case of a student's apology and with approval of the subject guarantor, personal attendance may be substituted with online attendance in the classes.
Aims
- Students will acquire practical skills of working with the sculpting clay at the relevant level (higher education of arts).
- Students will acquire the ability to accurately represent their spatial architectural ideas with adequate aesthetic quality.
- Students will acquire the ability to represent spatial situation from observed schema or oral assignment.
- Students will learn to choose from various possibilities of inspirational approaches to acquire the intended expression.
- Students will understand the overlap of sculpturing with other parts of the life, and will learn to use them as an inspiration for their architectural thinking.
