Basics of Geoecology

The course introduce selected topics that are important for architects from auxiliary science disciplines of geoecology, geomorphology, hydrology, paedology and soil erosion, climatology, ecology, nature protection, agriculture and forestry, geography of tourist industry, free-time activities in landscape, liturgy in landscape etc.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

Graded credit is awarded for seminar paper.
The seminars are optional, their basic content is available in study materials which are stored on the shared disc and available during the whole semester.

Aims

The main goal of the course is to introduce the students to the ecological and landscape aspects of their architectural designs.
  • Method of analysis, the knowledge and application of landscape contexts in architectural design – basics of contextual architecture.
  • Basic information for designing the unbuilt parts of urban complexes and for designing rural areas of municipalities in spatial planning.
  • Ability to evaluate landscape character.
  • Knowledge of tools and techniques and their application in designing rural landscape.
  • Ecologic minimum for the students focused on „ecologic“ (rather environmental friendly) houses.
