Course detail

Principles of Electrical Equipment Construction

FEKT-BPC-ZKZAcad. year: 2025/2026

The course focuses on current trends in the design and production of EZ. Students will theoretically and practically get to know virtual prototyping and design, they will practically subject their designs to simulations that will verify/disprove their assumptions. They will practically get acquainted with temperature simulation, simulation of electrical strength and shielding, the basics of working in the SolidWorks system and Ansys Maxwell.

Language of instruction

Mode of study

Not applicable.

Entry knowledge

High school level knowledge and the basics of a bachelor's degree are required.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

15b - preparation of the seminar work during the semester

10b – presentation of the seminar work

10b - work in PC exercises - device design project

65b - final exam - oral form

The definition of controlled teaching and the method of its implementation are determined by the decree of the course guarantor, which is updated every year.

Aims

The aim of the course is to introduce students to the electrical and mechanical construction of electrical devices and to familiarize them with modern techniques used in the design. Students will practically try out the virtual design of the cooling system of electrical equipment and submit their design to computer analysis. They will also learn about the possibilities of EM simulations. Everything is built on the teamwork of students. Knowledge of the acquired information will enable students to participate in the design, manufacture and testing of electrical equipment. A graduate of the course is able to:

- Understand the work principles of a project/systems engineer

- Orientate yourself in the use of computer systems when designing equipment

- Understand the principles of computer simulation, virtualization and digitization

- Get an overview of EZ shielding and covering methods

- Get an overview of current trends in the design and production of EZ
