Course detail
Optimization of Manufacturing Processes
FEKT-MPA-OMPAcad. year: 2025/2026
In the first part of the course, students will be introduced to concepts such as Industry 4.0, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Smart Factory, Digital Twin, Cyber-Physical System, etc. This part will be connected with modeling, simulation and optimization of the production line. This will be followed by an overview of the technologies currently used in the field of mechanical product design, such as 3D printing, topological optimization and demonstration of CAM machining. The last part of the course is focused on optimizations in the field of electronic technologies used in electric vehicles with a focus on simulations of Li-Ion battery systems, their thermal management and system simulation of a complex system.

Entry knowledge
Knowledge of the basics of physics, 3D modeling and the basics of electronics is required. Work in the laboratory is subject to the valid qualification of "trained worker" according to Decree no. 50/1978 Coll., which students must obtain before starting classes. Information on this qualification can be found in the Dean's Directive Acquainting Students with Safety Regulations.
Rules for evaluation and completion of the course
The definition of controlled teaching and the method of its implementation is determined by the annually updated decree of the subject guarantor. Computer exercises are mandatory.
Aims
The graduate of the course is able to:
- be able to describe the basic idea of industry 4.0
- be familiar with the selection of suitable simulation tools for production
- describe and use basic optimization methods in the field of mechanical and electronic designs
