Course detail

Precision Casting Technology

FSI-PSLAcad. year: 2025/2026

Basic survey of foundry technologies, resulting in "Net_Sape" final castings.
The course provides students with basic knowledge of the individual phases of the casting processes and also gives a chance of comparing different manufacturing methods used.
This course is focused primarily to the less "conventional" technologies such as investment casting, lost foam process,  etc.

Language of instruction

Czech

Number of ECTS credits

5

Mode of study

Not applicable.

Entry knowledge

Basic knowledge of conventional methods of casting manufacture
and foundry alloys and their properties.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

Attendance in lectures is recommended, attendance in exercises is obligatory.
Credit for exercises: semestr project - obligatory
Examination : written and oral exam.

Attendance at lessons is obligatory. Absence may be compensated for by the agreement with the lecturer.

Aims

The main goal of the course is to provide students with knowledge of broad possibilities of casting manufacture with respect to the
chosen mould and core technology, and pouring system.

Knowledge of non-conventional foundry technologies i.e.investment
casting and lost foam technologies.
