Course detail

General Physics I (Mechanics and Molecular Physics)

FSI-TF1Acad. year: 2025/2026

Mechanics and molecular physics is the introductory discipline of most university courses of general physics. Such its role is determined by its illustrativity and accessibility to human senous perceiving. The course is devoted to students of biophysics, applied physics and physical engineering.

Language of instruction

Czech

Number of ECTS credits

7

Mode of study

Not applicable.

Entry knowledge

Secondary school knowledge and skills of mathematics and physics.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

Knowledge of basic physical quantities for description of classical mechanics on the university course level. The exam is oral and written.
The presence on the seminars, which are stated in the timetable, is checked by teacher. The teacher specifies the form and the date of the compensation of the missing lessons.

Aims

The two main goals are followed:
* To present to students the problems and methods of classical mechanics on the university course
level, including the adequately economical mathematical calculus.
* By the practical teaching of such illustrative and accessible discipline, and especially by demonstration experiments, to introduce students into procedures and methods of physics.
Review of units of the physical quantities, manipulation with equations that contain physical quantities. Knowledge of the definitions, laws and conditions of theirs validity in the areas specified in curriculum. The dominant aim of the course is development of the skills to solve the physical and technical problems and formation
of the technically-physical thinking and the ability to apply the physical results in other disciplines.
