Proseminar in Physics I

Proseminar in physics I complements the lecture General physics I given within the frame of the speciality Physical engineering. Students taking this seminar can practise and acquire basic knowledge of classical physics in suitable form to be able to solve elementary physical- and technical problems. These abilities are necessary to understand fundamentals of many technical branches.

Knowledge of mathematics and physics taught at secondary schools.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

Students are evaluated on the basis of discussion on topics explained during the course.
For passing out the Proseminar in Physics I the attendance at the courses is obligatory. In the case of excused absence an individual way of compensation can be arranged.

Aims

Proseminar in physics I is drawn up to support students’ active approach their study content. Discussed topics are influenced especially by students. The main aim is to actively follow the commentary by means of the intensive collaboration between the teacher and the student.
Systemization of physical units, manipulation with equations containing physical quantities. Knowledge of definitions, laws and their validity conditions in the range of the syllabus. The emphasis is laid on the encouragement of abilities to solve physical and technical problems by virtue of general information obtained from the lecture General physics I.

The syllabus of the course more or less corresponds with the lecture General physics I. The content of the Proseminar depends on momentary state of students’ knowledge and is continuously adapted to students’ needs.
