Course detail
FSI-PMTAcad. year: 2025/2026
The aim of the course is to deepen the students' knowledge in the field of production technology, production management system and machining of castings, quality and product audit and technological process audit. In the production technology lectures, the student will learn about casting methods and casting materials. In addition, the student will be introduced to the methods and principles of machining, machining tools and production machinery suitable for roughing and finishing castings of ferrous and non-ferrous metals and alloys. The student will also gain an insight into the principles and procedures for planning, organising and conducting audits of quality management systems. In addition, the student will learn how to manage audit programmes and how to plan, conduct and evaluate internal audits of management systems. The student will also gain an overview of the current requirements for auditor competencies and audit teams. As part of the exercise, students will work in teams to develop a design for a selected casting for its manufacture and machining technology, including the development of a geometric and total quality control methodology, including the development of an audit of the product and complete manufacturing technology.

Entry knowledge
Knowledge acquired in previous studies is required, particularly in the following areas: materials science and engineering, foundry production technology, machining theory and technology, metrology and statistics.
Rules for evaluation and completion of the course
Conditions for the granting of classified credit: Active participation in the exercises, completion of the term paper. To obtain classified credit, the semester work of each team for the project must be defended in front of a committee made up of the lecturers of the course. Evaluation of the student by ECTS classification grade.Attendance of lectures is recommended. Participation in the tutorial is one of the conditions for the award of the classification credit. In case of excused absence, the teacher may determine an appropriate method of compensation.
Aims
The aim of the course is to apply knowledge of production technologies, materials science, machinery and equipment design, materials control methods, process and product management and control, quality and metrology to the production of castings and their conventional and CNC machining. The student will acquire the knowledge and skills to make informed choices in the manufacture of parts using foundry technology and to determine part clamping methods, manufacturing (cutting) conditions, cutting tools and materials, production times, dimensional and part quality control, including process and product control and monitoring. A sub-objective of the course is to further enable the student to understand the principles and procedures for planning, organising and conducting quality management system audits and to become familiar with the rules for managing an audit programme, planning, conducting and evaluating management system audits.
