Brownfields in EU countries

Lectures and presentations describe the key projects of brownfield redevelopment in the EU countries in the last decade. Also, students will be presented with the practical implementation of geographical information systems in dealing with the problem of brownfields.

At tutorials, the student learns to understand the significance of renewable sources, and acquires a considerate approach to architectural design and strategic urban planning.

Expected is concern about remedying the defects and sores of contemporary town, its parts and individual buildings.

Aims

The aim is to familirise students with the problems of derelict and decaying areas. The subject is focussed on the study of methods and procedures of regeneration of brownfields, used primarily in EU countries.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Expected is regular active attendance at seminares. Completion of the subject is conditioned by working out an individual research project and participation in a common project.
