Typology I - Residential Buildings

The subject' s aim is to make the students acquainted with the fundamental issues of general typology, with the principles of designing residential buildings and buildings for temporary accommodation, with view to architectural, functional and layout aspects.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The student is eqipped with fundamental theoretical information on the typology of residential buildings, and is prepared for his own creative activity in designing these buildings in the framework of studio tuition.

Prerequisites

The prerequisite for successful completion of the subject's study is the responsivness and the aibility to learn, with which should the students be equipped after having completed the secondary school.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Credit is granted when the student has successfully presented the critical analysis of the assigned residential building (single family house or tenement house) and submitted the model and the required naterials on CD carrier.
Examination has the form of a written test.
The final classification results from the evaluation of work at tutorial (30 %) and evaluation of the written test (70 %).

Aims

The subject' s aim is to make the students acquainted with the fundamental issues of general typology, with the principles of designing residential buildings and buildings for temporary accommodation, with view to architectural, functional and layout aspects.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

In general, the lectures are not obligatory and attendance is not monitored.
Absence in two tutorials is tolerated and needs not to be made up for, however, the student has to fulfil all duties required for being granted credit.
