Structural design

Familiarization with current problems concerning building typology, new trends and possibilities presented on actual examples of realization of architectonic works with effort to involve in the presentation the very authors. Aim is to teach students new knowledge via individual study, using own knowledge for own creation and teach them to convincingly present their knowledge.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Basic knowledge of designing a building structure (plan, section, view, detail) and its connection with architectural design and design of special facilities (sanitation, central heating, etc.).

Prerequisites

Knowledge of this subject in the extent taught in the preceding semester.Basic knowledge of typology and architectural layout solution. Basic knowledge of static analysis of structural parts.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The exam is written, combined when retaking. Classification takes into account knowledge of the student and his orientation in problems.

Aims

Extension of knwledge of main bearing structures, their functions, composition and elements.
Understanding their connection with supplementing structures, technology and economics. Knowledge of design solutions of roof structures, combined structures and special structures. Extension of experience by comprehensive structural design.
