Studio M6

FA-8M6Acad. year: 2009/2010

Studio creation is the main and inspiring mean of architecture teaching. It is based on “learning-by-doing” method which means gaining knowledge and skills by practical application. It is held by dialog between teacher and student about project in process. Topically they correspond with content of one of five modules. (M1 – City architecture, M2 – Public buildings, M3 – Architecture of technical civilisation, M4 – Architectonic creation in historical environment, M5 – post-industrial city…). Modular topic is offered currently for each academic year. It is stated in the course of study.

Syllabus

The semester is divided into three parts defined by pursuance of critical discussions about project in process and finished in final phase. All students attend these critiques and all studio teachers and there are two fundaments of it: firstly it is the control of fulfilment of predefined tasks in certain term, secondly it is exchange of opinions about solution ways of given task in wider collective and from this emerging corrections of work process. The critiques are evaluated by teachers with points and they have fundamental influence on final classification.
The dissertation work is then tied up with previous work by individual assignment. This progress of work is approximate and the teachers (prof. doc. and external teachers) can amend the assignment and work procedure according to the needs of given task and their pedagogical ideas.
