A Survey of International and Czech Art Hisotry of the Turn of 20th and 21st Century / summer

The purpose of the series of lectures is to give students the overview of artistic styles, tendencies, movements and main representatives of Czech and world art in the second half the 20th century. The stress is put on the wider cultural and social context.

Overview of Czech and foreign fine art from the second half of the 20th century - with the accent on wider cultural and social context.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of art history of the 20th century.

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations..

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

50% attendance at lectures. Conclusion: test above 70% and examination.

1. Minimalist art, konceptual art, body art, Arte Povera in foreign art.
2. Video art, instalation, performance and environment in foreign art.
3. High-tech architecture.
4. Postmodern art, hyperreal art in foreign art.
5. Land art, public art in foreign art.
6. Action Czech art of 1970s and 1980s, object, instalation, environment.
7. Czech grotesque.
9. Czech art in the 90s - the generation of artistic personalities.
10. Czech exile art - achitects and photographers.
11. NeoExpression art, neopop, sound art, installation art, new media and net art in foreign art.
12. Photography and graphic design 1969 - 2009.
13. Video art, new media, public art, neoKonceptual art, phenomenon of do it yourselfs and play, social intervention, political art, street art in Czech contemporary art.
14.Organic architecture.

To familiarize students with art movements, tendencies, styles and main representatives of fine art from the second half of the 20th century.

Attendance at lectures: 50%.
