Art and the City - winter

Historical developments of urban developments of cities and their base plan relating to the specifics of the environment of the one hand (cities in the mountains, lowland cities, cities in a valley, cties with a river, etc), and to the specifics of the function of the city (fortress, market centre, industrial city, city as the administration centre, satellite city, university/institutions city). The function, situation, and appearance of the city's representative buildings (churches, townhalls, theatres, schools, museums, cemeteries). The statue and the city: memorials, plague columns, devotional pillars, wayside crosses, wells, scupltures in public space - symposiums (Liberec, Bochum). Contemporary trends, the involvement of new media.

Aims

Artistic principles are manifested in urban structures on several levels:
public buildings - churches, townhalls, schools, theatres, parks, gardens, cemeteries and their architecture, funeral scuplture; scuplptures in public space als have to be considered. We will also look at the question of the usage of colours and other new visual means.
