The design of silos :membrane theory of shell steel structures; bending failures of membrane state; semi-bending and bending theory of steel shells; the calculation of the load of silos; the design of change-over stiffening ring and anchorage of silos.

Course curriculum

1. Shell structures.
2. Tanks and chamber.
3. Technology arrangement, pipeline, smokestacks.
4. Membran state generally loaded rotary symmetric shells.
5. Semi-flexural theory.
6. Local failures.
7. Rings. Categorization of tensions. Web bucling and stability.
8. Truss systems with wide span.
9. Anchoring of steel structures (rigid, pinned).
10. Anchoring of steel structures (semi-rigid).
