It is necessary to guarantee acoustic and visual comfort in buildings. Regarding protection against noise it is important to solve sound-reduction of both horizontal and vertical shell constructions. Horizontal parting constructions as ceilings with a floor or suspended ceilings have to ensure air-borne and structure-borne sound reduction. In the framework of architectural acoustics enclosed spaces are assessed from reverberation time point of view. Sound reduction in opened spaces is evaluated in subject area of urban acoustics. Windows in building envelopes including roofs have to ensure sufficient daylighting and insolation.
