Course detail

Urban Roads

FAST-BM03Acad. year: 2009/2010

Knowledge related to urban roads from urban network to urban road design. The first part of the subject will be devoted to historical development of urban settlements, i.e. urban roads and road systems in areas of development. Further, urban road definition and its categorisation. Individual categories will be characterised by basic design parameters. The chapter urban road intersections will be devoted to basic urban road intersections and way of their solutions. There will be studied both intersections at grade and grade-separated intersections. A separated part will be devoted to superior road networks. The last part will be devoted to modern trends in traffic engineering, i.e. urban environment humanisation, calming traffic in particular localities of city settlement areas.
