Strengthening of concrete and masonry structures

Principles of investigation of construction stability. Models of structures behaviour relating to their reconstruction. Basic methods of concrete and masonry structures strengthening.
Strengthening with external reinforcement, bandage and with prestressing.
Strengthening of masonry structures with external reinforcement and prestressing.
Methods of calculation of co-action of timber structures with masonry and concrete.
Stiffening of structures with longitudinal reinforcement. Application of joint reinforcement for slabs and walls strengthening. Construction of great openings in existing walls and floors structures using external reinforcement.
Vertical prestressing of composite structures.
Application of new modern materials ant technologies in design and evaluation of load-bearing structures.

Course curriculum

1. Principles of structural investigation of a structure.
2. Structural models of the structures relating to their reconstruction.
3. Principles of the strengthening methods of concrete and masonry structures.
4.-5. Strengthening of concrete structures using external reinforcement, bandage and prestressing.
6.-7. Strengthening of masonry structures using external reinforcement, and prestressing.
8.-9. Methods of calculation of the co-action of timber, masonry and concrete structures.
10. Stiffening with longitudinal reinforcement. Application of reinforcing netting for the wall and slabs strengthening.
11. Construction of large openings in the existing wall and floor structures using external reinforcement.
12. Vertical prestressing of composite structures.
13.-14. Application of new modern materials ant technologies in design and evaluation of load-bearing structures.
