Studio control desk, its main parts, description of operation, its application in the studio production of recordings of music and drama, application outside the studio. General properties of acoustic signals and their transformation in the dynamic, frequency and time domain. Peripherals of studio control desk, effect tools for digital signal processing. Electronic devices used in the production of musical recordings. Basics of music acoustics, tuning, creation of primary actave. Music synthesis, principles, history. Analog, analog-digital and digital synthetizers, typesof synthesis. Sequencers, expanders, MIDI communication system. Computer processing of acoustic signals. HD recording, application of PC to editing and restoring old or corrupted recordings.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The student will become familiar with the basic methods of how to work with studio devices and their peripherals, including operation with selected electornic musical instruments on the basis of utilizing computer systems for digital audiosignal processing.

The aiml of the course is to give students information about music and estheticc criteria required in the production of musical recordings and about their technical realization.
