Optical Networks

Topology of optical networks, optical fibre manufacturing, optical cable construction, connecting of optical fibres and cables, theoretical problems of optical networks transmission, , optical access networks, optical transport networks, global networks, optical transmission multiplexing, measurement and supervision of optical networks.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The students will get acquainted with technical means of various optical networks, basic elements and parts of networks. They are supposed to design local telecommunication and data optical network. They obtain basic skills in welding and connecting fibres.
They acquire practice in measurement and in networks supervision.

Prerequisites

The subject knowledge on the Bachelor´s degree level is requested.

To obtain the knowledge of the principles and technical means of optical netwoks, LAN networks, MAN, WAN networks and global networks.
