The students will acquire the basic information about power transmission and will increase their knowledge level in terms of the calculation of symmetrical and asymmetrical short circuits.

Introduction. Power lines with distributed parameters, distribution of voltage and current along a steady state power line.
Voltage and current waves along steady state power line with distributed parameters.
Some chosen and steady-state operation states on a power line with distributed parameters.
Replacement of a distributed parameter power line against a simple-type four-terminal network, and the solution of the same.
Maathematical modelling of a HV system as a total. Power equation and specification of the system operation modes.
Calculation procedures when solving the steady-state of a HV power system.
Transients in an energy scheme; definitions, distribution, solution modes. Three-phase short circuit supplied from an ideal power source.
Some chosen characteristic values of a short-circuit current. Mathematical model of a synchronous machine finding itself in transient state.
Stator current of a synchronous machine and an asynchronous motor in case of a short circuit close to their terminals. Characteristic values these currents may achieve.
Simplified assumptions to be used in practical calculation of short circuit characteristic current values.
