Data transmission in mobile networks, general introduction, multipath signal propagation, diversity, equalization. Data transmission at GPRS, EDGE and Evolved EDGE networks. Quality of Service measurement in GSM network, network optimization.Third generation mobile system - UMTS. Basic principles, description of the WCDMA, frequency band, radio access network UTRAN, system architecture. UMTS TDD and UMTS FDD, main differences.UMTS - architecture evolution (rel. 99, rel. 4, rel. 5), circuit switched and packet switched connection, handover, cell breathing, power control.UMTS - OSI layer model, higher layers protocols, user and control plane, setup connection procedure. Network planning and management. Radio resources management, network simulation.UMTS - high speed data rates connections HSPA (Release 06), HSDPA and HSUPA description, MBMS. Other 3G systems (Flarion, CDMA 2000, EVDO) and its comparison. Situation in Czech Republic.LTE - Long Term Evolution, 3GPP release 08 standard.
