Antennas and Applications

Antenna array pattern, its optimization and synthesis. Impedance of antennas, antenna matching and feeding. Radio waves reception. Propagation of radio waves over the earth surface,influence of atmosphere and terrain, ionospheric propagation, fading. Calculations of field strength and radio link reliability. Types, construction and technical design of antennas. Signal processing antennas, adaptive antennas. Computer aided design. Antenna measurements.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The students become familiar with the main antenna types, their properties and applications, design of antennas and of their auxiliary circuits, calculation of field strength and other properties of radio waves and basic procedures for measurement of antennas and radio waves.

Prerequisites

The subject knowledge on the Bachelor´s degree level is requested.

Aims

The aim of the course is to make students familiar with the main antenna types, with their properties and applications, design of antennas and of their auxiliary circuits, calculation of field strength and other properties of radio waves and basic procedures for measurement of antennas and radio waves.
