Types of media, their content and delivery. Analysis of multimedia networks and high-speed multimedia transport protocols. Lossless and lossy compression of multimedia signals (masking, wavelet and fractal compression, 3D DCT). Multimedia indexing and retrieval in multimedia databases (Fourier Descriptors, MPEG 7). Digital watermarks and their applications. Advanced methods of 3D visualization, multimedia system control over Internet, remote acquisition of multimedia data.

The students will acquire the knowledge of advanced methods of multimedia digital signal processing and methods of their delivery in heterogenous network environments.

Prerequisites
