Abstract:This thesis describes hollow lightguides used for inner-space lighting. One of the goals of this thesis is to describe the function, classification and use of hollow lightguides in certain applications. The basic optical properties of these systems are also discussed. The main goal of the thesis is to propose a lab procedure to measure the efficiency of the hollow lightguides available at the faculty. A measurement method which simulates diffuse lighting is proposed for the lab procedure. This method was adjusted to fit the capabilities of the lighting laboratory of the faculty. The thesis includes a complete measurement of the efficiency of a hollow lightguide. This includes the description of the measurement method, the measured values and an evaluation of the measurement.
