Abstract:Magnetic nanostructures are widely investigated for applications in industrial and fundamental research thanks to their interesting properties. One of the concerned scientific disciplines is magnonics – a novel research topic in magnetism concerned with the physics of spin waves, which can be used for fabrication of novel devices for wave-based computing with low power consumption. Fabrication of magnonic structures by a focused ion beam (FIB) is an alternative method to the commonly used lithographic methods. The material used in this work -- metastable iron – is able to undergo an ion-beam-induced phase transformation from a paramagnetic fcc to a ferromagnetic bcc phase. One of the properties, which affect the spin-wave propagation, is magnetic anisotropy. This thesis presents the influence of UHV conditions during the deposition of the metastable iron film on the magnetic anisotropy of the structures fabricated via FIB into this film. We also investigate the relationship between FIB parameters, crystallographic properties of the resulting structures, and their magnetic anisotropy.
