Profile
Graduates are able to solve practical tasks in broad range of fields: from low-frequency, high-frequency and microwave technology to optical waves, from analogue circuits, signals and systems, to digital, microprocessor and microcomputer circuits and systems. Instruction is provided primarily by the Department of Radioelectronics (UREL) and also the Department of Biomedical Engineering (UBMI). A wide range of optional courses along with individual technical projects and the bachelor’s final work enable students to focus more closely on the area of radioelectronics, mobile and other radio communications, instrumentation electronics, sound and video technology, analogue and digital processing of multimedia signals and medical diagnostic and prosthetic technology. Moreover, students acquire relevant knowledge in the area of telecommunication technology and applied informatics. In order to broaden their knowledge, students may also choose inter-disciplinary courses from other study areas in the bachelor’s degree programme at FEEC BUT and also language, economics, management and ecology courses.
Key learning outcomes
The graduates dispose of good knowledge in the design, construction, service, and applications of electronic circuits, systems in various areas of small-power electronics and communication techniques. The area of the knowledge extends from the range of audio frequency techniques through high frequency- and microwave techniques up to the range of optical waves, from analog signals, devices and systems through the digital- up to microprocessor- and microcomputer circuits and systems with great attention to their applications in radiocommunication and telecommunication services and technology. The graduates are qualified in many specialized areas of radioengineering, mobile and other wireless communication techniques, instrumental electronics, audio and video techniques, analogue and digital multimedial signal processing, and/or medical techniques. The graduates dispose also with the related knowledge of some areas of telecommunication techniques and applied informatics. In all of this branches they are able to apply efficiently and to exploit effectively modern computing, measuring and automation techniques. Owing to wide fundamentals of the applications oriented study branche there is ensured high adaptability of the graduate for most the requirements of his future practice. The graduates of the bachelor study branche can be applied in design, construction, applications and services of a wide spectrum of electronic institutions, mainly in the branch of communication and data transmission services and systems, in the range of broadcasting and TV techniques and services, eventually, with specialized knowledge, in the range of biomedical electronics and traffic of hospitals and other medical institutions. In all of this branches they are able to work also as the technical-managers in industry and services.
Occupational profiles of graduates with examples
The graduates of ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION have a profound knowledge of design, construction, operation and application of electronic circuits and systems in diverse areas of light-current electronics and electronic communication technologies. Their knowledge ranges from low-frequency, high-frequency and microwave technology to optical waves. Students can work with analogue electronic circuits, signals and systems, as well as modern digital, microprocessor and microcomputer circuits and systems. The graduates are qualified in the area of radioelectronics, mobile and other electronic communication, instrumentation electronics, sound and video technology, analogue and digital processing of multimedia signals and medical diagnostic and prosthetic technology. A broad scope of application-oriented study ensures high adaptability of graduates to specific requirements of their future professions, also in other areas of electronics and electrical engineering. The graduates of this branch of study find employment as electronics specialists in diverse fields of communication services operation, in design, construction, service and maintenance of sophisticated electronic appliances, devices and systems, in operation and service of radio, television and other electronic media services, and those with a specialized knowledge also in the area of biomedical technology. In all these fields, graduates are also prepared to assume lower executive and management positions. A strong practical orientation of study enables direct engagement of graduates into production, operating and service processes and provides them with a good background to increase their theoretical knowledge in the follow-up master’s degree programme.
