Study aims

Information security study programme is focused on the area of information and communication technologies (ICT). Students will explore technical aspects of ICT security as well as topics from law and economy connected to ICT security.

Graduate profile

The graduates will have necessary theoretical knowledge of mathematics, computer science, cryptography, economy and law, particularly of those areas connected with the design, operation and administration of information and communication systems. In the higher grades, the theoretical knowledge is extended by practical courses focused on gaining skills necessary for the operation of modern information technologies. The graduates will be able to apply this knowledge with respect to actual state of legislation and economic aspects of security products developed. The complex approach covering all aspects of modern information security makes it possible to provide students with education necessary not only for purely technical positions, but also for management and economical positions. The development of students’ language skills is also a strong priority, in particular the professional English is taught.

Profession characteristics

The three-year study program branch Information security (BPC-IBE) is an interdisciplinary bachelor study provided by the Faculty of electrical engineering and communication (FEEC). The graduates are experts in information and communication systems with the specialization on security.

Study plan creation

The state final examination consists of:
- presentation and defense of the bachelor’s final work,
- oral examination which comprises selected topics from compulsory courses of „Basics of Information Security“,
- oral examination which comprises selected topics from optional courses of „Selected parts of Information Security“
All parts of the state final examination take place in front of the state examination commission on the same day. The examination can be taken only by students who received the assignment of their bachelor’s final work, submitted the work in due date prescribed by the academic year schedule, earned the number of credits with a prescribed structure required to conclude the bachelor’s degree programme. The terms and publication of the topics for the bachelor’s final work are defined by BPC-IBE Programme Council. The organization and course of the state final examination are specified by the corresponding internal faculty norm regarding the final state examination and by particular instructions of Programme Guarantor.

Availability for the disabled

All lecture rooms at the FEEC BUT allow disabled access; students, however, must meet the medical standards to acquire the necessary electrotechnical qualifications. In laboratory classes and practicals, students are required to independently operate measuring instruments and related equipment without endangering human health or damaging property.

What degree programme types may have preceded

The graduates may continue in a master's study programme.
