Scholarship program for talented foreign students studying in English study programs 2025 "BUTalent"

Who can apply?

  • Foreign students currently enrolled in Master or Ph.D. English study programmes

How is the scholarship awarded?

  • The scholarship is awarded to students selected in the selection process based on the assessment of the evaluation committee.
  • The prerequisite for awarding a scholarship is the submission of an application within the set deadline, the submission of all required attachments and the fulfilment of the qualification requirements for granting the scholarship.
  • There is no legal right to the award of the scholarship.
  • Students are selected through an open and transparent selection process.
  • The grant of the scholarship is governed by the BUT Scholarship Regulations as amended.

Qualification requirements:

  • The applicant is duly enrolled in a subsequent master's or doctoral study program taught in English at BUT Brno.
  • The applicant is a foreign student.
  • The applicant is not the recipient of another similar scholarship – e.g. JCMM scholarship, government development scholarship, scholarship from the EU4Belarus program, etc., the provision of a scholarship is not excluded by receiving a benefit or accommodation scholarship
  • The scholarship can only be granted for the standard period of study.
  • The student is entitled to apply for a scholarship repeatedly in published calls, it is always necessary to provide up-to-date documents for the individual qualification criteria.

Evaluation criteria:

I. Academic results – mandatory attachment

  • study results in all completed subjects
  • publication of professional articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals, conference proceedings or chapters in professional books
  • involvement in research projects as a principal researcher or team member
  • presentations of own scientific results at national or international conferences

II. Recommendation from the faculty (dean or vice dean) - mandatory attachment

III. Motivational letter – mandatory attachment

IV. Additional recommendations – optional attachment

  • e.g. from a previous university, from an employer, etc.

V. Documents confirming the exceptionality of the student - optional attachment

  • Participation and placement in professional student competitions
  • Received awards for research or publications
  • Active involvement in student associations, teams
  • Active participation in the organization of events of faculty or university significance

How to apply?

  • Filled in and signed application form should be sent via email to formackova@vutbr.cz no later than until 31st March 2025
  • All mandatory attachments have to be included in the application

Scholarship

  • Master students: monthly scholarship of 7.500 CZK for the period January – May 2025
  • Ph.D. students: monthly scholarship of 10.000 CZK for the period January – May 2025

Schedule SS 2024/2025

  • 1st – 31st March 2025 – collection of applications from students
  • 1st – 13th April 2025 – evaluation of applications by the evaluation committee
  • 15th April 2025 – evaluation and awarding of scholarships, informing faculties and students
  • May 2025 – payment of scholarships
